Ready or Not?! New Psychosocial Hazard Regulations Are Coming!

Effective 1 December 2025

Big changes are on the horizon for workplaces and they are all about protecting psychological health as much as physical safety, one that protects not just bodies, but minds.

WorkSafe Victoria’s new Occupational Health and Safety (Psychological Health) Regulations will soon require all employers, from small start-ups to established businesses to identify and manage psychosocial hazards in the workplace.

That means all employers will now be legally required to identify, eliminate, or reduce psychosocial hazards, such as:

  • High job demands or low control
  • Bullying, aggression or harassment
  • Poor support or unclear role expectations
  • Remote or isolated work
  • Poorly managed change

These changes are not just about ticking boxes, they are about proactively building a workplace culture where psychological health sits alongside physical safety as a core priority.

When we identify and manage psychosocial risks well:

  • People feel valued, safe and supported which boosts engagement, productivity and loyalty
  • The chance of harm is reduced, meaning fewer absences, fewer claims, fewer reputational issues
  • Your business is positioned ahead: compliant, prepared and aligned with best practice

Compliance Checklist

What business owners and managers can do to prepare? A practical overview of the checklist includes:

  1. Raising awareness from business owners or higher managers
  2. Reviewing your existing policies, systems, job-design, work-systems and how we currently identify and manage psychosocial hazards
  3. Identify and prioritise your psychosocial hazards
  4. Design and implement control measures
  5. Communicate clearly what’s changing, what the expectations are
  6. Build a strong safety culture
  7. Review continuously
  8. Document and record

At Integrated People Solutions, we understand that every business is different.
That is why we work alongside you to make compliance simple, meaningful, and achievable, without the jargon or being overwhelmed.

We can help you:
